How to choose an Intercom System.

With so much choice, choosing an intercom system for your home or business is no easy task. Taking the time to think about how you would like to actually use your new intercom system will help you to narrow down the options.

The range starts with an audio only intercom, which is a single step up from a doorbell as you can't actually see who is at your front door.

The benefit of a wireless intercom is that they are generally well priced, battery powered and very easy to install. This makes them perfect for existing homes where cabling is no longer possible.

Wired Intercoms provide the most robust and long term solution and also the most features. The most advanced are our IP intercoms, which often include a phone application for use when you're not home.

Do you want a phone app for your intercom?

Nearly all the manufacturers have now developed a phone application for control of your new intercom system while you're not home.

This means you'll have the ability to have a 2 way conversation with a visitor from wherever you happen to be, provided you have an internet connection on your mobile device.

Typically intercoms with phone applications rely on your home wifi to connection to outside world, although Hikvision has a model that connects via Ethernet, which is handy for home that turn off or don't have wifi.

This is not normally on each model of the manufacturers range so if this is important to you, be sure to request this when reaching out to us.

Do you want to record all visitors?

Not every person that comes to your front door will actually use your intercom. Believe it or not, around 50% will still knock, meaning that if you are out the back or out of ear shot, you may not even know you have a visitor.

A solution to this is to look at integrating motion activated sensor that can be linked to a camera and your alarm system for instant notification of all visitors.

Wireless Intercom Systems
